What tasks does your job as Project Manager include?

My key tasks are:

  • Daily project management through planning, scheduling and tracking project timelines and milestones.
  • Continuous exchange and follow -up the progress of the implementation of the three project areas, platform building, energy mainstreaming and solar infrastructure in the partner dioceses of Gulu and Lodwar.
  • Setting up and maintaining a SPEA platform (networking, creating partnerships, market research, digital interface.)
  • Liase with project stakeholders and partners on an on-going basis to proactively manage changes and identify potential risks

Any first impressions about the Solar Pledge Project?

My first impressions were seeing that fact that the Solar Pledge Project is making a contributtion to the SDGs, especially Goal 7 and 13. The second was the energy and zeal that the steering committe has shown towards the project. What have been your first impressions about the Solar Pledge Programme?

Advice for other young engineers looking to work in renewables?

My advice to them is that they should remember “Success occurs when opportunity meets preparation.” Here I mean, one should prepare themselves and be equipped with the relevant skills that are required for one to work in the renewable energies industry. No skill is small. This will help them seize opportunities that will land them in places or positions they have even never imagined.

How does your job contribute to climate justice?

Climate justice is the fair and meaningful treatment of all people regardless of race, skin colour, income, national origin or age in any environmental process. We need to work together for a greener, fairer future.
The contribution of my job to climate justice is evidenced in one of its goal to build institutional capacity of the selected dioceses to mainstream and implement renewable energies technologies. This way, we are promoting renewable energies solutions which contribute to achieving the goal of universal access for all.
