Solar Pledge East Africa's Journey Towards Sustainable Energy

Oloya Barnabas the Energy officer Gulu

At Solar Pledge East Africa (SPEA), our mission to bring renewable energy to critical institutions in the Diocese of Lodwar and the Archdiocese of Gulu is gaining momentum. Recent milestones highlight our collaborative efforts and the transformative impact of sustainable energy solutions.

Project Advancements in Lodwar

Advancements in Lodwar
Our initiatives in Lodwar have reached significant milestones:
• Donor Engagement: We welcomed representatives from Missio Austria, a key funding partner. Their visit included training sessions on capturing compelling visuals, enhancing our storytelling capabilities. They also toured projects like the Kakuma Mission Hospital, witnessing firsthand the progress made.
• Strengthening Partnerships: From March 16th to 20th, team members Linda and Cornelia engaged with diocesan leaders, including the Heads of Education and Health, and the diocesan chancellor. These discussions fortified our collaborative framework.
• Facility Selection: We've finalized the selection of 10 facilities—comprising 5 schools and 5 health centers—that will benefit from solar energy installations.

Progress in Gulu

Our efforts in Gulu are also advancing:
• Documenting Impact: Missio Munich visited the diocese to capture stories and assess the current situation. Their communications team's involvement is amplifying our narrative, fostering broader support for sustainability initiatives.
• Pilot Phase Initiation: We've identified two health centers for the pilot phase and are in the final stages of selecting eight schools, totaling 10 facilities set to receive solar energy solutions.
Notable facilities visited include:
• Atang Girls School
• St. Theresa Primary School
• Stefano Campagnolo Health Centre II
• St. Joseph Minakulu Health Centre II
The Power of Storytelling and Collaboration

The visits from Missio Munich and Missio Austria underscore the significance of storytelling and collaboration in our mission. Every photograph, narrative, and shared smile serves as a testament to the positive change we're fostering together.

As we conclude, the visit from Missio Munich and Missio Austria have highlighted the power of story telling and collaboration. As we move forward, its clear that “every photo, every story and every smile i s a powerful testament to the change we are building together.”
