Our Organsation

Windkraft Simonsfeld is an Austrian company in the renewable-energy sector with focus on wind-energy and works for the consistent expansion of the renewable energy transition for almost 30 years.

We are serving the entire life cycle of wind farms and PV parks – from project development to technical operational management through to the generation and sale of electricity. Currently operating 96 wind turbines (mostly in Austria) and a solar power plant, the Windkraft Simonsfeld Group increased its electricity production in 2024 to 756.5 million kilowatt hours, an amount corresponding to the annual demand of around 189,000 households. Windkraft Simonsfeld is also one of the major citizen participation companies in Austria.

Our Values

Green at our core
Sustainability is at the heart of our mission. Windkraft Simonsfeld contributes to climate protection by generating renewable energy and promoting responsible corporate governance. We balance environmental, social, and economic goals in all our decisions. In addition, we dedicate part of our earnings to non-profit energy projects and charitable initiatives that foster climate, social, and economic justice beyond our core business.

Why We Joined the Idea

Solar done right
Many healthcare and education facilities have solar systems, but too often they are outdated or not working. SPEA steps in where others stop—by assessing existing systems, repairing, upgrading, or removing components as needed. It also creates sustainable ownership and maintenance structures to ensure long-term use. This targeted and responsible approach is essential for a lasting and reliable energy supply.

Expected Impact

reliable electricity
We expect this project to provide sustainable and stable energy to critical facilities like hospitals and schools. Long-term energy cost planning, proper maintenance, and clear responsibilities are key. By repairing and optimizing existing systems, the project ensures reliable power supply for essential services, helping institutions function safely and effectively over the long term.

A word from

Windkraft Simonsfeld

Alexander Hochauer

"The Solar Pledge program combines many of these aspects and picks up where other projects have failed: Local actors and structures are empowered to take long-term responsibility and build up technical maintenance know-how as well as reliable spare parts management, including the necessary resources. We are pleased to support energy projects with a holistic approach leading to a socially, economically and ecologically sustainable impact."

CFO, Windkraft Simonsfeld

"Many health and educational facilities in sub-Saharan Africa already have solar energy systems installed, but not all of them are fully functional and some require repairs, maintenance or upscaling. In its articles, Windkraft Simonsfeld has committed itself to supporting non-profit initiatives to realize global justice, whereby we pay particular attention to sustainable project impact when allocating funds."
