This year’s AGM focused on two vital themes—climate change and gender equality—while also dedicating time to enhancing internal processes and teamwork.

Diversity in Participation: A United Effort

From November 24–30, 2024, horizont3000 hosted its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in the district of Inhassoro, province of Inhambane, Mozambique, gathering a dynamic group of 21 participants, including representatives from partner organizations, technical advisors, and internal staff.

The AGM welcomed 12 male and 9 female participants, reflecting the inclusive nature of horizont3000’s network in Mozambique. Representatives came from partner organizations Levasflor, ESMABAMA, Azada Verde, Jossual, Kubatsirana, LeMuSiCa, and Young Africa, alongside horizont3000’s advisors and administrative team. The diversity of voices enriched discussions and ensured a wide range of perspectives on pressing issues.

Highlights of Collaborative Discussions

Day 1 and Day 2 were the focal points of partner participation, bringing their expertise to the forefront:

  • Climate Change and Gender Equality: Facilitated by Domingos Dias (external trainer), sessions explored the intersection of gender and environmental strategies. Partners shared their innovative projects, such as Kubatsirana’s solar aquaculture systems, LeMuSiCa’s women’s empowerment programs, and Azada Verde’s reforestation efforts.
  • Synergizing Knowledge: Group discussions and case studies allowed participants to exchange best practices and co-develop solutions tailored to Mozambique’s challenges, like climate adaptation and community resilience.

These shared sessions underscored the value of collective action and showcased the strength of horizont3000’s partnerships in addressing critical global issues.

Internal Processes: Strengthening as a Team

While Days 1 and 2 emphasized external collaboration, the AGM also included sessions dedicated to internal growth and alignment, focusing on horizont3000’s organizational processes and strategy in Mozambique:

  • Activity report of 2024 & Planning for 2025: Led by national director Lélio Comissar, internal discussions covered technical assistance, safeguarding policies, and co-financed project updates. These sessions helped ensure that priorities for the upcoming year align with the needs of partner organizations and donor expectations.
  • Team Development Workshops: Facilitated group activities encouraged reflection on the role of advisors and their impact. Questions like “What is the role of an advisor?” and “What should/shouldn’t we do?” sparked constructive conversations that strengthened the team’s shared vision.
  • Strengthening Collaboration: Time was spent discussing lessons learned, challenges faced, and strategies for more effective collaboration between the Mozambique office and partner organizations.

These moments of reflection and planning were crucial in ensuring that the team works cohesively and efficiently toward shared goals.

Celebrating Shared Progress

The AGM 2024 successfully combined action-oriented sessions with opportunities for introspection and growth. By fostering collaboration among diverse participants and refining internal processes, horizont3000 reaffirmed its commitment to creating sustainable solutions for Mozambique’s development.

The engagement and expertise of both male and female participants enriched the discussions, making the AGM a powerful platform for innovation and unity. As we look ahead to 2025, the strengthened partnerships and internal alignment from this AGM will be instrumental in driving meaningful impact.
