From 2–17 September 2025, a group of outgoing advisors gathered in Vienna for the Preparation for Assignment (P4A) training. This intensive two-week onboarding course has long been a central step before advisors begin their work with partner organisations abroad. September 2025 marks the last edition of the P4A in its current form, making this round a special milestone.
The P4A course combines administrative orientation with thematic and methodological training. Participants are introduced to Horizont3000’s mission, policies and guidelines, including anti-corruption, safeguarding, safety & security, and reporting systems
Special sessions cover:
Contractual and financial matters – clarifying rights, benefits, and organisational procedures.
Communication and social media – how advisors can effectively represent projects and partners.
Tropical medicine and first aid – essential health knowledge for working abroad.
Security training – preparing for risks in different contexts.
Intercultural collaboration and decolonised cooperation – developing sensitivity and strategies for working across cultures.
Project cycle management and resilience – strengthening professional and personal capacities.
The course is highly interactive: role-plays, peer coaching, and group work complement expert input. In addition, there is space for informal exchange with staff and fellow advisors to build a supportive network before departure.
