Regine Gaber ended her assignment after 4 years with HAART. We want to focus on the important work of that organization: Human trafficking remains a global crisis, leaving countless victims in its wake, especially young girls. In Kenya, where the issue is particularly acute, HAART Kenya (Awareness Against Human Trafficking) stands as a beacon of hope. Dedicated to combating trafficking and supporting survivors, HAART's work involves community education, advocacy, and survivor care.
The goal of the project that Regine supported was ambitious but essential: to establish a sustainable shelter that provides safety, support, and a pathway to healing for underage girls rescued from human trafficking. This initiative aims to create not only a physical sanctuary but also a framework of sustainable processes and structures to ensure long-term impact.
The shelter now serves as a foundation for survivors to reclaim their lives through access to psychosocial support, education, and life skills training. It embodies HAART Kenya's holistic approach to survivor care, addressing the multifaceted challenges these girls face as they rebuild their futures.
After four years of serving as an advisor for HAART Kenya’s shelter for underage girls affected by human trafficking, Regine Gaber is bidding farewell to the project. Her departure marks the end of a remarkable chapter in which her expertise, and dedication have profoundly shaped the initiative’s success and her closest work colleagues leave some words for her.
