Emotional stability of children, teenagers and young adults through artistic and cultural forms of expression.
Directly involved are 350 vulnerable children, adolescents and young adults from Ciudad Sandino, in the department of Managua. Around 1.200 family members are indirectly involved.
In April 2018, Nicaragua was hit by a socio-political crisis that still negatively impact on country’s population. The crisis led to a polarisation of society and a weakening of the economy. In addition, the Covid-19 crisis led to instability in social structures, as many households have suffered the loss of family members and further increased unemployment, leading to an exodus of parts of the population to Costa Rica or the USA in search of work and better living conditions. As a result, social networks and the primary relationships that support the development of children and youth no longer function. 67% of the Nicaraguan population is under the age of 34. Children and adolescents are among the most vulnerable groups and there are many situations violating their rights, which leads to a deterioration in their emotional stability. To counteract this, children, teenagers and young adults need alternative places for relaxation, fun, reflection and to promote their artistic expression.
